Come check out Danielle's hot off the press CD, a compilation of spoken word pieces that were recorded at Ottawa's Capital Slam series from 2005-2008. Danielle has been performing spoken word for the last 8 years, and spends her spare time holding spoken word workshops for all ages. She is a teacher, a new mother, a drummer and a member of the Capital Poetry Collective, and LiPS. She is the founder of the Lanark County rural slam poetry series and is beyond excited about the wonderful poetry that she has been experiencing since her move to Almonte in 2007. She is also a member of this year's LiPS slam poetry team.
El Jones is a poet and teacher who has performed in poetry slams all over Canada, even heading up the Halifax slam team that won the National Championship at the 2007 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word. She is a spoken word phenomenon and always speaks her mind.
The Lanark County Live Poets Society grew out of a collective love of spoken word poetry. LiPS sent the first rural slam poetry team to the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word(CFSW) in Calagary November, 2008 and are hoping to send their new team to Victoria for the 2009 festival this year. LiPS is comprised of poets from Almonte, Carleton Place, Perth/Tay Valley, Smiths Falls and surrounding areas. They deliver workshops, and have been known to break out in spontaneous acts poetry all over the valley. Watch for them, and check out the website at http://www.lanarkcountylips.com/
